Wild Swimming in Meifod

  • The river Vyrnwy runs through Meifod (the next valley). It boasts a stunning swimming spot where intrepid locals jump from the bridge (we’ve never tried!). It’s a beautiful 10km walk from the cabin or a short drive. The Kings Head is fab for a drink to warm up after!

Adventures

Sunset at G&T Point

  • Whether it’s a G&T at sunset, a summer’s evening BBQ on the fire pit or an autumnal hot chocolate, roasting marshmallows. Visiting the seating area at end of our woods is a micro-adventure you can’t miss! Bring a head torch for your return trip.

Local Walks

  • 3 Hills a short drive from the cabin - you can walk to Rodney’s pillar (6km), up Gypsy Hill (5km) or Middletown Hill… or link all three for a proper day out.

  • 10km one way walk to Meifod, to the river swimming spot and/or the Kings Head

  • Walk along footpaths to the local village, sample the Derwen farm shop and Cafe, or grab a drink at the Royal Oak, before you loop back.

  • Powis Castle is a beautiful National Trust property and only 6km walk along quiet lanes/green lanes.

Bike Parks

  • Coed y Brenin was Britain's first purpose-built mountain biking centre and it is still one of the sport’s top destinations.

  • This riding spot is often overlooked, but it's a little gem, with a rolling riot of a red cross-country loop, more gentle blue loop plus plenty of technical and tricky old downhill trails that'll provide a satisfying challenge for a modern trail or enduro bike.

  • A network of maintained mountain bike trails, suited to all levels. More info

  • 650 acre bike park set in the heart of Dyfi Forest, created by Dan Atherton. More info

Get in touch.

  • We had a wonderful couple of days here. Although it was raining it only added to the cosiness, ambiance and relaxation. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful and the cabins attention to detail made it so chic and easy to live in. We will be back!

  • We had such a lovely stay at the cabin, 2 days is not enough to enjoy the birdsong and soak up the serene environment. We could easily have extended our stay if it had not been booked up already. I'm so pleased to have found this treasure. Peak enjoyment was my morning cuppa in the hot tub! We will be back!

  • We are (sadly) leaving rejuvenated. Thank you for sharing your beautiful woodland with us. We have loved every second. We sacked off a lot of ideas and plans to just enjoy this beautiful cabin. We loved soaking in the hot tub, strolling down to G&T point and waking up to birdsong. The one adventure we did make was a quick trip to Lake Vyrnwy - we hired bikes and rode round the lake and finished with an ice cream! See you again soon.

  • Cannot put into words how much we've enjoyed our stay at the Forager's Cabin! Cute, quiet and simply splendid. The hot tub was a delight, as was the indoor fire. Will be recommending this to all of our friends! Thank you both so much!
